La Toussuire summer activities

La Toussuire offers a wide range of activities, especially in the Summer and each activity is suitable for persons of any age. Dawn and I are definitely avid hikers and wild swimmers, and the area offers a vast network of trails and beautiful lakes. The families can calm themselves in Lac Vert which is satisfactory for the eating and swimming, which is just within a walk from the center.

More serious and longer trails are located at an elevation of 2045 meters, near Lac de la Grande Léchère, but the view there and the routes are really interesting. Neighboring the area of the Refuge de l’Étendard there is a cozy place for a snack or some rest or spending a night in the mountains, perched in a marvelous Alpine location.

Another amenity associated with La Toussuire is mountain biking, where the resort provides a wide network of trails, most of which are covered in summer by the piste. These trails range in level of difficulty and while they provide steep descents for the expert cyclist, they also cater for those who are new to cycling.

Top tips for an Alps summer holiday

Before you leave for your alpine summer trip, think about the following points:

  • Prepare for all weather conditions: Even in summer, the weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Pack layers to accommodate both warm days and cooler evenings.
  • Book activity guides early: If you plan to engage in guided activities like mountaineering or paragliding, book your guides in advance to secure availability and potentially lower rates.
  • Get in shape: If extensive hiking or biking is on your agenda, it’s beneficial to condition your body beforehand to enjoy the activities fully without strain.
  • Check mobile coverage: Some remote areas may have limited mobile reception. It’s wise to check coverage beforehand and carry a physical map and compass as backups.
  • Reserve restaurants in advance: After an active day, you may not want the stress of finding a place to eat. Book restaurants ahead of time, especially if you anticipate arriving on busy weekends or during local festivals.
