Skiing and activities in La Plagne

Some resort activities include skiing, snowshoe hiking, and bobsleighing (we will get into this one in the below section). Beyond the slopes are other activities like biathlon and shooting, mountain biking, and ice skating. The resort also has many interesting après-skies spots to go and grab a drink or a snack.

La Plagne skiing: an overview

The skiing area is open from December to April of each year. From the 11 villages, the chosen ones to ski are the Plagne Montalbert, Champagny-en-Vanoise, and Plagne centre. La Plagne alone has 225 kilometres of slopes and 73 ski lifts, and within the slopes are available 17 black runs for the advanced skiers, 35 red for the experts, 73 for the beginners, and 11 playing areas for the little ones.

Owned by Compagnie des Alpes-Domaines, the resort belongs to the Paradiski area, which offers 425 kilometres of slopes.

Non-skiing activities in La Plagne

There are many non-skiers things to do at La Plagne. Some of the activities include snowshoeing, ideal for the visitors that want to explore the Alps by foot and away from the slopes. Pedestrian paths are available and are exclusive for this activity. You will get to see the mountains and, with some luck, the wild animals.

Bobsleigh is also very popular. It’s open from December to March, and it’s the only track available in France, making La Plagne resort unique and attractive for skiers and non-skiers. Reservations are needed and available from La Plagne’s official website.

Other non-skiing activities include dog sledding. Horseback rides, and paragliding.

Things to do in La Plagne village

La Plagne has 11 villages to be discovered. As we said before, Plagne Montalbert, Champagny-en-Vanoise, and Plagne Centre are for the ski lovers. The Sun Plagne village has 2050 metres of altitude, and it’s a good place to find your accommodation. If you visit it, make sure to check out the Ô Des Cimes Spas d’Altitude Les Granges du Soleil, followed by a meal at the restaurant Igloo Village on the Dou du Praz.

Dating back to the Middle Iron Age, you have the Plagne Valley village, where you can find local artisans selling spirits, beverages, and traditional food. We leave you with a last village suggestion which is ideal if you’re visiting with your family— the Montchavin—Les Coches.

Family-friendly and kids’ fun in La Plagne

You must head to the village of Montchavin-les- Coche if you’re visiting La Plagne with your family. Awarded with the family-plus label, the French village located in the centre of the Alps offers many family-friendly and kid-friendly activities. Some of these activities are dog-sled rides, mountain bike sessions, spas, and a park slide.

The Brix is one of the après-ski bars located at the Plagne Centre village. It’s known for the variety of draft beers and platters, and tapas with jazz music in the background. Spitting Feathers Pub is another option to go after a long day on the slopes. This lively bar is located in the Plagne Bellecote village, and it’s ideal for visitors who are ready to have a good (fun) time.

Lastly, the White Moon Bar, which is located at the Plagne Soleil village. It offers a very warm environment, nice cocktails, soft drinks, and great waffles.
