Skiing and activities in Les Arcs

The ski resort of Les Arcs is made up of 4 villages all at different altitudes from 1 500 to 2 000 metres and is one of France’s original purpose- built mega-resorts. With its high altitude, it’s a snow-sure resort that caters for all.

Les Arcs skiing: an overview

Les Arcs is integrated seamlessly into the whole Paradiski ski area. Arc 1950, fully ski-in/ ski-out, is connected with Arc 1800 by a free cabriolet (open gondola) lift. Arc 1800 and Arc 2000 are central areas of the resort. Additionally, your ski pass gives you access to around 425 km of pistes, serviced by 141 ski lifts. With a range of runs from long reds to steep blacks, it also throws in some fun tree-lined runs too.

Non-skiing activities in Les Arcs

Fancy a day off? Les Arcs delivers. From skiddoos to snowshoeing, paragliding to sledging, there’ll be something for everyone. Don’t miss the chance to take the quickest way down with the 1800 metre Aiguille-Rouge zipline, ending near the Olympic Flame at Arc 2000.

Things to do in Les Arcs village

Les Arcs village doesn’t disappoint either. From spa treatments to yoga and wellbeing, laser-rifle shooting to a skate park, the village caters for all your off-piste needs. Check out the Igloo Village and ice cave and enjoy a relaxing drink on its terrace.

Les Arcs après-ski

The apres-ski scene in Les Arcs is centred around the L’Arpette Restaurant which opens as soon as the lifts close. It’s got one of the best sunset views around. 1800 is the liveliest of the villages. Red Hot Saloon or Chez Boubou are the places to head to if you’re staying there. There’s a much more laid back vibe in the other villages, but some decent bars and happy hours can still be found.

Les Arcs restaurants

With a wide range of restaurants, there’s something to suit every taste and budget in all of the Les Arcs villages, but Arc 1800 has the largest choice. If it’s Surf ‘n’ Turf you’re after, head to Belliou La Fumée Restaurant in Arc 2000. For something a little more authentic, check out La Savoy, for local specials in a cosy rustic bolthole.

It’s also worth noting that most restaurants offer a ‘plat du jour’ for great- value lunchtime options.

Les Arcs summer activities

Les Arcs isn’t just for winter sports enthusiasts- it’s the perfect summer mountain destination. The previously white mountains turn lush green and skis and snowboards are traded for hiking boots and mountain bikes. There’s plenty of hiking trails to occupy you for a week, regardless of your fitness levels. You can also try your hand at rock climbing, paragliding, and zip-lining.

If you prefer white-knuckle activities, you can enjoy the skate park or white-water rafting. There’s opportunities for mountain karting, archery and laser-rifle shooting. If it’s a more chilled out vibe you want, outdoor pools, tennis or cyclotourism might be more your thing.

Top tips for an Alps summer holiday

As a sustainable destination, you can forget about cars. Les Arcs is a car-free destination. With no vehicles on the road and no roads to cross, you’ll be a free spirit – skis on your feet in winter and hiking boots in summer.

Like with all outdoor holidays, you should be prepared for all weather conditions, packing layers, but also SPF is a must. The summer sun can be strong at high-altitudes so you must protect your skin and don’t forget a hat and sunglasses. Staying hydrated is also important if you’re hiking in the mountains, so bring plenty of water.

Lastly, book your Alps summer transfer to Les Arcs in advance, that way you’ll get the best availability and remove any last-minute panic!
