Morzine skiing: an overview

Situated in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine itself has 81 groomed ski runs and provides access to over 650 km of ski runs across 14 iconic resorts along the French-Swiss border like Abondance, Morgins, Chatel, and Avoriaz, all with the right ski pass.

It’s an ideal destination for beginners and lower-level intermediates, although there are also some great beginner areas and some challenges for advanced and expert skiers, including the world famous Swiss Wall.

Non-skiing activities in Morzine

Fancy a change? Morzine is about so much more than skiing. Snowshoeing routes in the Vallée de la Manche at Mines d’Or Experience are in protected natural areas, well away from the ski area. Just book a local guide to get the most out of the experience. Sledging, cross-country, parapenting, even helicopter rides, you won;t get bored away from the slopes.

Things to do in Morzine village

Not everybody comes to Morzine to go skiing or snowboarding – we get that. There are plenty of things to do in Morzine for non-skiers that don’t involve hurtling down a mountain at great speed.

If you prefer your sports to be indoors, fitness and yoga classes are on offer, or head to the pool which also offers a spa. Or you may prefer to chill at one of the skating rinks. And if you really want to slow things down, why not get a feel for the place at a leisurely pace of a traditional horse- drawn carriage ride.

Family-friendly and kids’ fun in Morzine

As a family-friendly resort, Morzine puts on a show. Literally. Every Tuesday evening at 6pm the ESF ski school instructors perform a captivating torchlight descent down the main Pleney slope, followed by a fireworks display.

On the mountain there are gentle, sheltered slopes and play areas. And they’ll be spoilt for choice with other activities too. Club des Piou Piou is run by the ESF school and takes children from as young as three years old.
