Top tips for an Alps summer holiday

Before you leave for your alpine summer trip, think about the following points:

  • Prepare for Variable Weather: Mountain weather can be unpredictable; even in summer, temperatures can vary widely, so pack layers, including a warm jacket.
  • Book Guides in Advance: If you’re planning activities like mountain climbing or extensive trekking, it’s more economical to book guides ahead of your trip.
  • Get Fit Before You Go: If your holiday includes strenuous activities, start an exercise regimen well in advance to ensure you’re in good shape for the trails.
  • Check Mobile Coverage: Service can be spotty in the mountains, so check the coverage beforehand. Always have a backup plan like a physical map and compass.
  • Ease Into Your Vacation: The first day can be hectic; booking a meal at a local restaurant for your arrival can help start your holiday smoothly and stress-free.
