The Resort

La Plagne resort benefits from being part of the Paradiski area, with a variety of pistes covering a huge skiable area and providing something of interest for all levels of skier and snowboarder. The Paradiski playground comprises of 3 resorts: la Plagne, Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry. The Vanoise Express cable car, which was built to connect Les Arcs and La Plagne, forms a continuous and expansive ski area: the Paradiski area. Made up of eleven different villages, La Plagne's huge variety in atmosphere and amenities offers a holiday base to suit every taste and budget. Plagne Centre is the main resort area and features all the shops, restaurants and bars you expect from a major French ski resort. La Plagne 1800 offers a quieter and more scenic spot for tourist with its chalet-style buildings and ski-in, ski-out accomodation. Completely car-free, the idyllic Belle Plagne is the perfect place for recharging your batteries and enjoying mountain life. Plagne Soleil is a great base camp for discovering Paradiski’s 425 km of runs with its central location. Champagny en Vanoise is a charming mountain village bursting with energy, located in the heart of the mountains at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park, its south-facing slopes ensure sunshine all year round. The relaxed atmosphere of Plagne Villages make it a great place for families to stay. And if it’s apres-ski you’re after, then Montalbert might be a good choice. The small, intimate village has a definite buzz around the cafés and restaurants. Otherwise, stick to the higher altitude resorts where there are the few venues which stay open until 4am.

Skiing in La Plagne

Part of the Paradiski ski area, La Plagne and its neghbouring resorts of Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry, boast over 425 km of ski runs. La Plagne itself offers 132 pistes with 9 gentle greens, 70 challenging blues, 34 steep reds and 8 demanding black runs, connected by a network of 74 ski lifts. Its summit elevation reaches a dizzying 3 250m and the resort has a vertical drop of 2000m. The resort also offers expansive opportunities for off-piste adventures. The best off-piste areas include Bellecôte, Inversens, and the Chiaupe glacier, offering various exciting trails with diverse, challenging terrain. Make your plans by taking full advantage of the ski map of La Plagne- decide on your runs and where you’ll stop for hot chocolate and crepes. During the winter, the map gives real time opening and closing times for the lifts and runs.

Things to do in La Plagne

There is plenty to keep you amused if you fancy a break from skiing. A not-to-be-missed experience is the Olympic Bobsleigh run. It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience. Ride solo in the Speed Luge, in a group of four in the Bob Raft or in a full competition bobsleigh complete with professional driver.  For something a little different, have a go at Superluge with Oxygene! An hour and a half and 450 metres of vertical descent with state of the art sledges you are promised an awesome experience. Visit the ice grotto, located at the top of the Plagne Bellecôte glacier at 3,417m. The colours inside range from blue to green, a truly beautiful sight and one not to miss. To experience a different perspective on the winter landscape, try husky dog sledding, ride a skidoo, horse drawn sleigh or get away from it all on some snowshoes. Or for a unique experience, strap on your crampons and go hiking on one of the many nearby glaciers.  Go ice skating at the floodlit rink at Bellecôte, indulge in spa treatments or take a dip in one of the several swimming pools, even go bowling. You won’t have time to be bored in La Plagne, there’s too much to do, whether you're seeking once-in-a-lifetime trills, adventure, relaxation, or family fun.
