Things to do in Morzine
If you think its just skiing and snowboarding in Morzine, you couldn’t be further from the truth. You’ll find a wealth of entertainment both on and off the mountain, with something for everyone, all interests and all ages.
If you’re an adrenaline junkie, Morzine is the place for you. The Fantasticable Zip Wire in Châtel offers a unique thrill-seeking experience, as does night sledging. Dog lovers might enjoy getting up close with husky rides, and cold water enthusiasts might like to take things to the next level with ice diving in the frozen depths of Lake Montriond
Check out the local ice hockey team, the Morzine Avoriaz Penguins, every Saturday night during hockey season. And night sledging with only a head torch has to be on anyone’s list of must-dos. And every Tuesday night, the ESF ski school instructors perform an impressive torchlight descent followed by fireworks, another not-to-be-missed highlight. Watch from the main Tourist Square with a hot chocolate or vin chaud.
Sleigh rides, winter walks, ice skating, the Aquariaz water park in nearby Avoriaz, sledging, taking a ride up the mountain in the Super Morzine Telecabine, there’s plenty to amuse yourself if you need a break from the slopes.
Skiing in Morzine
With 12 resorts of the huge Portes Du Soleil ski area, the right ski pass will grant you access to the biggest international ski area in the world. And you also get the chance to ski in one country in the morning and a different one in the afternoon, with the Swiss-French border running through the ski area. Morzine is blessed with regular snowfall as well as the best sunny bluebird days.
650km of pistes and a resort height of 1000m with a summit of 2 466m, Morzine is one of the premier ski resorts in the Northern French Alps. With a vertical drop of 1 466m, the resort caters for beginner and intermediate skiers, although experts are catered for too. For snowboarders, head to one of the 30 snow parks shown on the Portes Du Soleil piste map; many of the best are in the areas around Morzine.
