Аэропорт Женевы

Geneva Airport (GVA) sits beside Lake Geneva and functions as the main international hub for much of the northern French Alps. The terminal is compact by major-hub standards, winter schedules from the UK are busy, and the train into Cornavin takes a few minutes. Ski groups often use GVA even when their resort is entirely in France, partly because a French customs sector in the terminal simplifies road access into Haute-Savoie without crossing central Geneva.

Terminal guide & getting around the airport

Terminal 1 handles most scheduled flights, with piers for Schengen and non-Schengen traffic. After baggage reclaim, follow exits for the Swiss or French sector depending on your onward route.

Terminal 2 opens mainly in winter for charter flights. Check your ticket for the correct terminal before meeting drivers. The official airport site publishes maps and security opening times.

Ground transport into the city

Trains run from the airport station to Genève-Cornavin in roughly six to seven minutes. Tram and bus routes serve the forecourt for city hotels. Taxis and ride-hail use signed ranks outside arrivals.

This section covers city access only—mountain resort roads are listed separately below.

Facilities, tips & good to know

You will find currency exchange, pharmacy, duty-free, and pay-per-use lounges. Allow extra check-in time for ski bags. The airport lies on the Swiss–French border; confirm hire-car pick-up sector with your rental firm.

Winter tyres or chains may be required on mountain routes even when Geneva city is mild.
