Samoëns skiing: an overview

Samoëns offers a great mix of skiing for all levels within the Grand Massif. Beginners can find their feet on the nursery slopes at Samoëns 1600, easily reached by gondola. English-speaking instructors are on hand to help you get started.

Intermediate skiers have plenty to explore, with wide pistes and long runs like the scenic 14km Piste des Cascades. For the more advanced, there’s over 40km of challenging black runs and exciting off-piste options. The Combe de Gers area is particularly popular for its powder. Snowboarders and freestyle skiers aren’t left out, with several terrain parks scattered around the area.

Snow reliability is excellent here, averaging 5 metres annually. North-facing slopes and snowmaking on lower runs help maintain good conditions throughout the season.One thing to note: you’ll need to take a bus back to Samoëns village at the end of the day, as there’s no direct ski route down. But with such varied terrain on offer, it’s a small inconvenience for a great day on the slopes.
